The process of getting a dental crown usually involves two visits to the dentist. A temporary crown is placed over the tooth to protect it. In the second visit, the temporary crown is removed, and the permanent crown is carefully fitted and cemented onto the tooth.
Similar to dental crowns, the process of getting a dental bridge also involves multiple visits to the dentist. In the first visit, the abutment teeth (adjacent healthy teeth) are prepared by removing a small portion of their enamel to accommodate the crowns. Impressions are then taken to create a custom bridge. A temporary bridge may be placed while the permanent bridge is being fabricated. In the subsequent visit, the temporary bridge is removed, and the permanent bridge is fitted and cemented onto the abutment teeth.
